We recently had the honor and privilege to participate in the High School ProStart Student Competition. This amazing two-year program introduces interested high school students to the concepts of the food industry! Students are given the opportunity to learn amazing topics on a wide variety of food service related concentrations. Averill’s Sharper Uniforms had the privilege to outfit the culinary teams in fitting and high quality chef coats. If outfitting the teams wasn’t a big enough honor, Averill himself was given the opportunity to judge the restaurant concept competition portion of the event.

The ProStart Student Competition has two components; Restaurant concept and culinary. The restaurant concept competition requires students to develop a comprehensive and solid plan to start and run a restaurant. The Culinary competition had students creating a set menu item, preparing it, and being judged on their excellent knife skills. We took great pleasure in watching these talented students prove themselves in the competition, while being outfitted in professional and high-quality chef coats from Averill’s Sharper Uniforms.
